Epic of Eden: Isaiah

Leader: Keith & Sallie Cutshaw
Time: 9:30a
Location: Taylor Hall Room 210
Duration: 8 Weeks

Often named the "fifth gospel", the book of the prophet Isaiah has more to say about Israel's comping Messiah than any other Old Testament book. Brilliant, courageous, uncompromising, this prophet declared "the year of the Lord" had come and God's people needed to either step up or stand down. Indeed when Isaiah spoke, kings trembled. But too often, we miss the larger context. Dr. Sandra Ricter takes participants back to the eighth century BCE. This study explains Israel's religion and economy, explores the definition and role of the prophets, and helps us to apply the message of this great champion of the faith to our lives today.

One of the most beautiful ways to know God better is to learn from those who served Him in other times and cultures. The poets and saints of Christian history were imperfect, yet they offer wisdom across the centuries that is as powerful today as it was to their contemporaries.
